Title says it.

I would like to build an xtracycle - and have an extra frame in the garage. BUT, can I use the same free radical to upgrade to a big dummy frame down the road?

If you mean can the V-racks, bags, snapdeck, etc, be re-used on a BD, then yes. The only thing I can think of that can be used on a Xtracycle but not a BD, is the center stand, it needs an extra little bit to rest against the BD frame. If you buy that, get the BD version and just put the extra piece on the shelf till you get the BD. Confirm that with Xtracycle themselves.

Yes...my basic question is can I spend the ~500 now for a free radical...and down the road when I buy a BD frame - do I have to buy a differeny "xtracycle" to use on the frame. I am gathering the answer is no (from reading here and xtracycle.com) - just want to verify.

The free radical is the part that extends the wheel back enough for all the other accesories to fit. So, no, you won't be able to use the free radical on a BD (unless you want a triple-length bike), but you will be able to use the other accessories that Xtracycle sells on a BD.

Assuming you keep it in good condition, however, you'll probably be able to sell the free radical for 75% of what you pay for it.
