I brought a few bikes today, one wasn't my usual race bike I tend to go for, but the saddle caught my eye. (its the first bike in the line)

I was thinking this might be too scratched and worn to be intr esting to collectors? :(
Also is this the IR Special Competition model?

post it on yahoo.jp or U.S. ebay and it would likely sell for a pretty decent amount

unfortunately, the JP collectors (who don't already have a few) tend to want mint condition. This one's been around the block, but somebody in the US who wants an authentic French saddle for a FR bike might want it. Be sure to include the clamp (from top of seat post) since that's unique to these alloy rail Ideales. I don't think you'll make book but probably upwards to $100 if you clean it up and take pretty pics.
PS: the rack and plastic shift levers could be worth something, depending on condition...maybe other parts as well.

There is a Rebour signature mark on it. That's the guy who made all of the old drawings of bikes and components for old catalogs, etc. The Dancing Chain book is laced with his drawings.

What does all of that writing say?

Is it missing the tensioning bolt/ nut? One of the pics makes it look so.

Daniel Rebour did more than just ink drawings of everything bicycle: he also patented a "pre-softening" process that he licensed to Ideale, and that's what the saddle top says. IMHO I have not noticed a big difference between the Ideales with and without the "treatment", they are both rock-hard when new. I recall studying one I had with the Rebour treatment, and in the right light you could just make out a pattern of tiny "hammer marks" all over the surface, very subtle. The tension bolt is probably there, it's hidden with a front cap on these saddles.

You may do better because there are alloy rails, but the e-bay range is probably $60-$80. I've bought a few ideale saddles, which are on my commuters.

If you like it - you should keep it and try it out....

Thank you for the information, looking up Daniel Rebour was very intresting. Here are a few extra photos of the seat ;
