Hey guys-

I was browsing CL this evening and found this ad. I am interested in the Fuji but dont know what I should pay for it. Any ideas? Also what kind of components and stuff would this have? It says its Chromo...is it a nice, light frame or what? Anything would be great, especially whats it's worth. All 3 bikes actually look very nice and seem to be pretty cheap, eh?

Thanks,

This one?

The Fuji is the best, followed by the Super Mirage and then the Mirage is at the bottom. The Fuji is nice but not stellar, probably a lower mid-range bike. Both of the motobecanes have hi-ten steel frames. I think the prices are ok given the market, they are not great prices if you plan on flipping them though.

If you want this as a keeper, go for it. Just keep in mind you may spend another 50-70 dollars to get them road ready depending on what they need.

I have a Fuji Royale in the basement waiting for its turn at 'rehab'. It is a nice bike, forged Suntour dropouts and decent mid-level Suntour drive train. Once I give it a complete going over and some new tires/cables/brake hoods I expect to list it on CL for $225 and get something close to that for it.

I had a Super Mirage last year for a short time and the Fuji, even without a nice new set of tires, was the better riding bike of the pair.

Here are detailed pictures of a Royale mixte from 1981 that I recently picked up

Frame (http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/Doohickie/09Royale/Frame/?albumview=slideshow)

Components (http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e341/Doohickie/09Royale/Components/?albumview=slideshow)

1980 Catalog (http://classicfuji.com/1980_Thumbs.htm)

Kind of unique (not sure if they did it in 1980 also) but the components have Fuji branding. So the Suntour Vx rear derailleur is labeled Fuji Vx, and the Sugino cranks say Fuji on them.

I had a Royale that I flipped and I was surprised how nice it rode. Out of the three that is the one I would choose IMHO.

Fuji Royale is a very nice riding bike. I bought one new in 1981 and still have it. Upograded to Cyclone front and rear and just recently put on Ultegra dual pivot brakes and aero levers, replacing std dia compe sidepulls. Great inprovement. It is a touring smooth riding machine.

Wow thanks for all the great responses guys. IS it worth it do you think? Maybe give him $100 for it? I need something to get me around lol. I would prob convert to fixed in the summer.

Why is that? Just because you don't like fixed gears personally? Haha or is the frame not a good candidate?
