I'm at a RR this weekend and having my sandwich between the morning and afternoon sets. One of the deputies working the course chats me up and I ask if everything is going well and if their are any problems for the crew to address. He says he had one complaint from a local farmer on the course (very rural area):

Farmer to Deputy:
Why all the bicycles on the road? Can't you stop them or chase them off?

Deputy:
No, it's all fine and legal. What's the problem?

Farmer:
They're screwing up traffic.

Deputy:
Are they riding through your field?

Farmer:
No. Why?

Deputy:
Well, you've been here picking out rocks all morning.

I waved every time I passed in the afternoon set.

:roflmao2:

The farmer never left his rock pile in the field. Perhaps you had to be there.

Weeks from now, we'll all be quoting this thread like our favorite movie.

Remember the part when the deputy asked "Are they riding through your field?"

That cracked me UP!

It's funnier if imagine that the farmer has a Norwegian accent and the deputy looks and acts like he was right out of "Fargo".

Not sure about the former, but the latter isn't too far off.

I thought that might be true, given your location. And if read by an outsider that only sees the words and doesn't understand the local dialect I can see that it is very likely that they have no idea what is really being communicated. The words can be so polite, but what is really being said can be very nasty. It reminded me of some scenes in "Fargo" that caught this brilliantly.

When my wife and I saw "Fargo" when it first came out I was raving about how they did a tremendous job with handling the local dialect as opposed to "Great White North" (not the same dialect, but it has some similarities) where it was treated as a joke. She told me that "Nobody talks like that". HAH! My mother's family is mostly from an area well north of Green Bay in Wisconsin and I can easily slip back to my "mother tongue" and I gave her an earful "don't cha know".;)

I think you need to act it out for us and put it on youtube so that we can appreciate it fully.

Don't forget the accents.
