I need a new wheel for my old Trek mtb-turned-commuter. My girlfriend's brother has a wheel for me if I want it the next time we visit them (they live @ 150 miles away) and second hand it was relayed to me that it has a freewheel rear hub (don't know what kind). My question is this - I thought all mtb's were 'freewheelers'. How do I figure out if my bike has a freewheel cassette or not? Will this work? Hey, free wheel, you know?
I did a search and looked into the the FAQ sticky, but I'm afraid this simpleton couldn't find anything that easy enough for my pea brain to understand. Sorry to annoy.
