I'm looking at a workout that I did indoors on my rollers.

Computer is the 705 with no speed sensor, GPS turned off. So all it's recording is power, cadence and HR.

Golden Cheetah's analysis is based on speed. Which means it only looks at data where v>0.

You do the math.

edit: On second glance, I'm not sure what's going on. I looked at my commute home, with the GPS on and plenty of speed/distance data, and for my 1hr41min ride, it says my "Time Riding" is only 20 minutes. wtf?

It is open source, if you don't like how it does analysis you have 3 options
1> Pay for something that works the way you want it to.
2> Talk to the developers.
3> DIY

Oh, and if it breaks, you get to (by means of a warranty):
1> keep both pieces.
2> get what you paid for.

not sure. I recognize some of the contributors on WW. My dilemma is that when you export a CSV file from WKO+ it doesn't include distance info, so obviously I don't have distance info in GC either. I asked WKO about that and they didn't seem to give a crap. Someone is working on importing *hrm files from PPT though.

Export the file and do the calculations yourself. Or you can use the head unit that takes speed off the hub. Is there no option for the Garmin to do this as well? Or does the Garmin only take speed off of it's GPS or speed sensor.

A computer program can only do so much. Golden Cheetah works very well if you are using it with the PT head unit. This is really the Garmin's fault for not taking speed readings from the hub.

I just looked at the PT manual (I don't know if you have a PT or what, but I assume it's similar across the powermeter spectrum)... Is there any way you can get the Garmin to accept speed and torque info from the ANT+ stream? Apparently the hub will transmit this data ("torque at wheel" message, whatever that means, which gives you torque, speed, and distance from the hub unit). The other option is "power at wheel" which only transmits power and cadence, no speed, which is apparently what you are using.

What data does the Garmin output? GC might not be recognizing something in the data file, or it might be interpreting the data file wrong. It might also be that Garmin recently changed the way it outputs data. That's an eternal problem with "do everything" software. If something changes and the developers aren't keen to the change, then it will all of the sudden lose compatibility. On second thought, definitely something to bring to the developer's attention.

Garmin puts everything into an XML file. GC even has an option to import straight from the garmin.

Yeah, it's a PowerTap analysis tool. You go adding different hardware, and you break the assumptions around the project architecture. The reason they have Garmin support, is for PowerTaps, which will always be sending speed/distance data to the head unit. ;)

My biggest gripe is not being able to highlight a section of a ride and see the data for it. avg speed, avg power, etc.
