Know what kind of schwinn it is?
Do you think this bike is worth $250?
Old school Schwinn 54cm frame, all braze ons were grinded off, primered, and spray painted white, bottom bracket and headset greased, Sugino cranks with 46t Sugino chain ring, brand new FMF 18t freewheel, on brand new weinmann 700cc anodized silver rims, new tubes, Maxxis Kevlar tires, Custom long neck with Azonic alloy bars, barand new white teflon coated chain, Oury grey grips, and brand new white seat. Cool looking bike with lots of BRAND NEW PARTS, wheels spin like butter and stops great

Well, it looks like if it is a Schwinn, it is an 80's Giant made frame. There is a good chance that the frame is cro-moly so it could have that going for it. I am not familiar with the new parts that the seller put on it but the FMF adapter, Sugino crank and alloy wheels are all nice. Is it worth 250.00? It's hard to say since it's not really my thing, it does seem to be at least a decent conversion and there is some parts cost in there. I think 250.00 is high for most bikes though.
It looks a whole lot like a world sport to me:

Thanks for the Reply and Photo! It does look like World Sport. It is hard for me to pay $250 for a used bike too.

I picked up a World Sport much like that blue one for $10 last year. A little on the heavy side, but not too bad of a bike.

That blue world sport above also cost me $10.00. Of course you would have to buy the parts that you need, and do all the work of putting it together yourself.
Obviously the seller is making some money in that price. Just add up what it would cost you to source similar parts, similar frame plus labor. One thing is for sure though, for the price I would make sure that the conversion was done properly. The spray paint is a bit of a turn off, powder coating would have made it a better deal.

The question:
Could you build that bike yourself for that price? Do you have the time to put into such a project? As mkeller said, the seller is making money so odds are it can be done for less. not much less though..

$100 for the crank? $50 for bars?
Not worth it to me. Unknown frame, I don't care for the handlebars, etc. Giant made some decent bikes for Schwinn and some also really low end bikes.
But if you like it and want it, why not? I saw a new fixed gear at the LBS for $950, and it wasn't anything special.
As far as deals, I picked up a 84 World Sport myself last year (thrift store half price day). But that does not mean the bike is only worth that amount. 1984 and newer World Sports were decent bikes with cromoly frames, alloy rims, etc.
