Well, they say there are no stupid questions but...
How do I reply to a post without either the 'ads by google' or a copy of the post in question appearing above my reply? It it reads much better without all this clutter.

It all depends who is reading your reply. Donating members won't see the ads, but other members will.

When you click on the red [reply] link in a post, you will quote that message, you can remove the quotes by deleting the contents of the reply box, or editing the message as I have done in this post. I think most users use the "quick reply" option at the bottom of each page, this will not quote any of the above posts.
