Northeast - Delancey to Wily B rally 2x/month

These will be held the first and third Monday of each month.

I'll send this to Noteon for his NYC regular recurring rides calendar - meanwhile, here is the flyer and pics from last night's inaugural ride. It's basically to raise awareness for bike lanes and increase safety for bikers and peds in the LES/Two Bridges area.

Hi Pgoat. Great seeing you there! I just stumbled upon them. I was just coming across the Mhtn Bridge (3rd time today!!) and was waiting at the light at Chrystie & Delancy when I saw the bright orange vests. I asked what they were about and just decided to join, lol. :)

I had a great time and met some very nice people. You should have stayed for pizza and they had beer too! :D

(I didn't drink any beer but I heard men can't resist beer & pizza, lol!)

Is there an ending date for these, what time do they happen, and how long do they last?

No ending date I am aware of.

the deal is, they run it from 6-7:30ish. Basically they give you an orange "Share the Road" vest to wear, and you do a slow leisurely pootle in a group of about 10-12 riders from the park east on Delancey to the WBB; then turn around and head back. You basically ride two abreast and take the left lane. The whole circuit takes maybe 10 mins, tops, we stop for lights and so forth, obviously.

It's all basically to raise awareness for cyclists - instead of the way we usually ride, solo and isolated in a sea of cars - and also to lobby for a bike lane approach to/from the WBB.

The nice thing is, you can just show up, do one or two circuits and split - no need to stay for the whole thing. I got out a bit late yesterday and missed the first two, but I did the last two and it was fun! I still got home in time for dinner and whatever else we needed to get done.

It's run by a really good bunch of people who work hard to improve biking in the city, so please do stop by and participate if u can:thumb:

Noteon - looking at it again, it said "all summer long", so perhaps this will end in Sept. or Oct. - I will keep you posted if I hear anything....otherwise, first and third Monday night of every month till further notice.

Starts: 6pm, first and third Monday of the month; arrive when you can and join in Bike-bus (groups of up to 20 riders) leaving every 15 minutes

Where: Meet up at Sara D. Roosevelt Park - Southside of Chrystie St @ Delancey St

I believe the ride is hardcore rain/shine (as seen above!)
