Hello all. I just completed a 67 mile charity ride last weekend up in college station, tx. Since completing the BP MS150 (nay MS75 due to 11 inches of rain on day one), I am getting hooked into cycling. I was able to average 14.7 mph which is pretty good for me considering the strong winds, little rolling terrain, and being all alone on the road.

Anyways, just wanted to share a pre-ride photo of me, my sister-in-law, her boyfriend, and my brother-in-law. Can you guess who I am? I don't have any other picutures from the ride itself, but when I saw this picture I had to laugh. Can anyone say Lilliputia? BTW, I'm only 6'2" with an extra 50lbs stuck on me.

take care.

Thats an awesome photo. I'm 6'4" and don't notice it most of the time, but there are moments.

Nice! I'm 6'6" and I've got some great pix of me dwarfing everyone else I'm out with.

So, did the guy on the right totally smoke everybody with those aerodynamic shoe covers? (Sorry, those things just make me snicker, especially on recreational/charity rides.)

Funny thing. So, he's my brother in law, mid 30's, smoker, and did the same 67 miles at a 27 mph clip. Yeah, he warms up at my sprint speed and takes things a bit too seriously.

Yikes!

(I'm still gonna laugh about the shoe covers, though.) hehehe

haha... just did a charity ride last week with a similar type of crew... 15.1mph average... prob would have been closer to 15.5... but the last 10 miles i was riding 3 spokes down on the rear wheel haha not bad IMHO for a guy about 100# overweight and rolling a MTB with cx tires haha... the guys I rode with where generous enough to take it easy and roll with me... was a fun ride

anyway... some of my local racer friends rode it... clicked off at 23mph for the 62mile ride... then they decided to ride the 30 or so miles home... that just amazes me haha... then again... when people see what us big guys can do sometimes they are pretty impressed... just different sides of the isle i guess

I bet your friends are fighting it out to draft you on the ride.. I have a friend I ride with who is 5'4 and I am 6'3 and it is pretty much useless for me to draft him. I tell him that at least my knees are getting a good draft..

cranes - just look at your calves and then the others and chuckle.
donalson - I like how the guy on your shirt looks like he needs a drink.

Quite remarkable speeds for someone to sustain for 62 miles that's a 100 pounds overweight and on a MTB .

I have a great picture of you dwarfing me! I think I will start growing a beard, I'll look like mini me.

I saw you're progress over the years thanks to a few posts on MTBR... inspiring stuff... and having read your stuff on the ride around the indy track i'd LOVE to go up there and do that ride one year... keep up the good work man
