Folding Bikes - Need a front basket recommendation

First off let me preface the story. My daughter last night comes and asks me if I want to take a foldie ride. I leapt at the chance. I followed her and granted we only went a mile or so I was glad to see her want to go bike riding with her old man.

While we're out she announces she wants to start riding her bike to school but needs

a) a lock
and
b) a front basket for her backpack (she has about 15 different carrying bags)

School is a whole half a mile from here.

She has a rear rack but she's afraid the straps will get in the wheel. I concur.

Any recommendations for a front bag for a foldie to carry kids school stuff?

Klickfix basket that goes on the headtube. Or, you can just get her the klickfix backpack, so she won't need to put the backpack in the basket--it just goes on the bike. I have one and absolutely love it, but I don't use it anymore because i have the brommie bag now.

She's 10 and unless the Klickfix backpack has a picture of Hannah Montana on it it's not an option.

A local sports shop sells Klickfix stuff. I'll go take a peek at lunch. Thanks.

You can get her the nice wicker klickfix basket. I totally want one but can't justify the cost in any way.

I find handlebar basket's problematic due to brake lever interference and especially problematic for folding.

What I like is a rear rack with short legs for small wheels and a milk crate on top. Straps will not get in the rear wheel through the milk crate. However, with the rack you have the crate might hit the saddle.

On the other hand, that ignio has an awfully long head tube for a folder...probably long enough to use the klickfix "caddy" bracket and then the world will be your oyster.

Agreed, that looks like the best option.

TrekJapan, presumably your daughter won't carry huge weights in her bag?

Talking of weight, as she's 10, does that Thudbuster elastomer actually move with such a lightweight rider?

The ThudBuster does not move much with her on it, that is correct, however I find the need to test ride this bike occasionally.
