Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am looking for a good sports drink to go with my new training and came across Extran.
I was wondering if anyone had tried it?

It's ok but a pain to mix (you need to put in 15 scoops just to mix it at half strength) and is expensive on a per serving basis. The taste is also iffy, it's really nothing special. I much prefer Accelerade in any flavor over Extran and think it's a better product.
I do like the little Extran juice boxes for longer road races. 320 calories and it's not all sugar so you don't spike and crash.

I took a look at the Accelerade web site, looks good, I might give it a try this weekend.
Thanks

I've used Cytomax and currently use Accelerade. Both work well for me, but Accelerade has some protein which is supposed to be a good thing.
FWIW, Extran seems to be the drink of choice for pros. Or at least when/if they mention a specific drink, it's usually Extran (maybe a sponsorship thing?).
