Anyone doing the CCD this weekend, May 9th?

I'm in - assuming the swelling of my arm goes away. I came in contact with a mean poison oak bush last Wednesday. Just saw the doc yesterday and he prescribed some oral steroids... Keeping my fingers crossed that I can make the ride.

I hope you can make it. I think it's so cool that in your first "double" year, you're the stage races.

Thanks! My arm is getting better but I will not be 100%. I'm going for it though. :)
I checked the CCD website (http://www.centralcoastdouble.com/) and noticed that the ride has been extended a bit... close to 220 miles now  It will not be easy, that's for sure.

For me, I'll be doing the ride a little different. I'm usually pretty tired when I get done, so I'll just cool my jets a little and not push quit as hard in some locations. The extra 8.9 miles will probably mean and extra 30 minutes for me. It's going to be warm in the afternoon, around 90-95.

It's done. This was a very difficult ride. The winds were strong on the coast as well as inland. The scenery was spectacular but many of the roads were beat up. The temps were pretty high. I cramped at mile 170. I limped into the final rest stop 15 miles later (thanks to my boys). I was able to finish strong but I had to dig. I'm feeling pretty beat up....
Total distance ~218 miles (which seemed to never end!)
Total time ~15:30. They'll subtract lunch time for the official stage race time.

Way to dig Ryan. :thumb:
Great job!
I knew it was going to be a windy day when I was driving to the start. I was at 46 and Santa Rosa Creek Road at 4:45 and the wind was blowing already. Usually when the windy starts blowing that early it only gets stronger and blows all day, it held true. It was blowing strong on the coast, but when we went inland it got stronger. Between the wind, heat and rough roads it made for a long day. I finished, I was tired and a little beat-up.

Congrats Dante!:thumb:
Not sure what I'd prefer ... wind or rain.

I think I'll take the rain. Any time you were going north you had a headwind. Let's see Cambria to Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. 66 miles. As we turned up Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. for the coast the temps went up and most of the climb was in the sun and of course we were blocked from the wind. The climb is 8 miles +/- and averages just under 8% with the first 2 miles from 10-16%. When I got to the lunch stop I was tired, but with some food and a little rest I felt much better. By now the temp was around 95 degrees. Then it was on to Jolon Rd., a 12 mile stretch with 7 miles of 2-4% into, you guessed it more headwind, a hot headwind. Between the headwind, the heat and rough roads I was beat up at the end.
