Road Cycling - To ride or not today...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am boooored since this is my week off.
Rode 60 miles on sat, 20 on sun, 0 mon, 60 yesterday, thinking of doing 50-60 today, then take tomorrow off and friday I go back.
People in the recovery thread say take a break after every 50-60 mile ride? Should I take today easy?
I don't get it...
If you are training, I guess that makes sense.
But if it's a week off, RIDE MAN RIDE!
Work is for recovering. :)

it really depends on the type of riding your doing. if you're really hammering everytime you ride then it would be a good idea to take a break after the longer rides. however, most training programs i've looked at really only have one day off during the week.

There's a saying, "Better to take the day off than need the day off". Take it, no harm done, more good than harm if you have been dedicated and training hard.
Well I was on the verge of needing a day off. Funny thing is I went out anyway and felt fine but the moment I got home I felt the same way I did earlier, sore.

Sounds like you overtrained to me. Take a day and rest.
Dan.
