Commuting - Helping a sick co-worker interfers with commute

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got a call from a co-worker yesterday, she had gone home sick and left her car behind. She won't be in until Thursday. She suggested I use her car until Thursday. So, I "have" a car. I almost left it at work last night, cause I wanted to ride. Now I'm a little angry 'cause I drove her car. Today is suppose to be a most excellent day, the sun will be out, temps resonable. My legs are aching for another long ride, and I'm saddled with a death trap and my bike at work. ARGH!!!
I hope I won't find myself corrupted by the dark side.

So why didn't you leave it at work? Come on, admit it, you wanted to drive it.

The one time I got a DUI it was because someone forgot a car - I was working at a bar, he was a roomate at the time and called me at 2:30am... Told me he didn't want to get fines for leaving the car at a parking meter in the morning, but wasn't gonna leave the girl who gave him the ride home...

I hadn't driven in like 9 months at that point, and when they took the license away, I let them keep it. It's been about 6 years w/out a car now (thank god for sister in laws with trucks and big courier bags :)

People don't ask me to drive cars much anymore. The last time I was behind the wheel, all it was was moving a car out of a compact parking space in a downtown lot so we could get a visiting sister's borrowed bike out of the back seat so I could show her how to get home from downtown minneapolis.

So, um, yeah, not much on cars....

Actually, parked the car and rode to work yesterday and last night. I'll be dropping the car off this afternoon and riding to work, taking advantage of the great weather that is finally here.
