Hi all,

I'm looking for a good shop to ship my Trek 2.1 Compact to in Seattle (near University District?) that will receive and reassemble the bicycle for me. I found Gregg's Bicycles but they want $75 to receive and reassemble. A Trek Store in Pittsburgh wants $40 to do this (for when I need to ship it back)... so Gregg's wants essentially double.

Does anyone know of any good shops in the Seattle area that might be able to do this for ~$40?

I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!
George

Here's what I've got so far:

Gregg's: $75
Performance Bicycle: $85
Bicycle Center: $35 -- anyone have experience with this shop?
Seattle Bike Repair: $50 -- or this one?
Recycle: $75

Those prices ($75ish) sound right.

The west coast in general is just more expensive than anywhere else. I have never been able to figure out why.

Just FWIW, recycled has a reputation for doing good work generally. You'll be out a lot more than the $40 difference if it's packaged poorly and damaged.

Speedy Reedy in Fremont is the only local bike ship I know of that advertises this service on their website.

I just thought I would post the link; it confirms that $75 is reasonable:

Speedy Reedy is close to the University. So is Recycled Cycles.

Counterbalance is another shop that is close to the U district (check their location on the Burke Gilman trail).
