I picked it up today for 15 bucks. Its got 27" Rigida's, Weinman brakes, and Carbolite 103 tubing. Its 61cm and is missing the front derailer. The rear derailer however is that of a Shimano ATLUS? Its got some riser bars and kinda weird looking black SCOTT grips with no name levers which are also black. Its the Vitesses 12 speed. Its only got a single shift lever mounted horizontally on the right grip, kind of like a thumb shifter. I am sure its all original, but kinda different.

I did a little searching and found of some things, but ca anyone tell me more about this bike in general and the components? The value for Portland Craigs would be helpful as well. I was thinking I could probably sell it for like $200 as is with little to no work? Or I was thinking about keeping it for myself and making a nice fixed conversion. All feedback appreciated. Sorry for the horrific pictures, my Cannon is acting up for some reason and wont focus correctly.

Thanks,

Gas pipe bike missing parts would not sell for $200 around here. Cleaned up with drop bars and ready to ride, maybe $150 at that point. You know your market, so that will guide you for sure.

I am almost positive it is not all original. But we'll see what the Peugeot experts say. Would make a nice fixed gear.

Nice catch for $15.

Looks like a 1984 P8, but Jim will know for sure.

Oh OK. Yeah, I figured the frame was a nice frame though? What exactly to you mean when you say "gas piping". I know its the frame material, but I am not sure what you mean. So do you think the Sugino VP crankset was factory on the bike? I think it would be cool to cut the risers down a little and convert to fixed.

Carbolite is Peugeot speak for high ten steel. Bottom end frame. Low end bike. Pretty good marketing on their part to brand their high ten steel frame. And they made good looking bikes that are pretty popular.

Bill, What clamp size would the stem be on this bike in case I decide to go with some new bars if I keep it? If you were a person who likes fixed gears and wished he hadnt sold his pride and joy conversion a month ago, would you use this Peugeot as a good starting point and just keep the bike? Or would you be the poor college student and try to sell it for a little money? I am asking you because I know you are a wise man.
