Not sure of the years or sizes, but I think he said the prices were $250 for each bike. Doesnt that seem like a good deal for a flip? Especially the Cannondale or Lemond? I do not know much about them but I asked him to send me pics. If I could get either or for that price, do you guys think it would sell for more on Portland CL?

Thanks,

You know the Portland Craigs List market a lot better than probably anyone on this list. You have posted at least 25 bikes you were selling to this forum. That would give you a tremendous database on what buyers want, and what they are willing to pay. I would keep a log of all of your deals and you will quickly be able to tell if there is a profit to be had on any vintage bike find.

The rest of us can comment as to our markets, which is much less accurate than your personal Portland experience.

Around here, I could not make anything flipping those two bikes, it would take me a while to sell them at the price he is asking and I would probably have to sell them for less. My guess is that they are both DT shifter bikes.

There's not enough information to make a decision on the Cannondale, but it looks doubtful. I paid $200 for an R-600 a year ago. It's my size so I bought it intending to ride it, but may flip it in the future. BUT it's a later model with 8X2 brifters and a carbon fork and it too, was nearly mint. If the seller has a R-400 with brifters and carbon fork and if it's your size and you want to have some fun, I'd offer $200. At $250 you're really talking about a keeper. A 91, R-400 sold this year in Raleigh, NC for $300, but it had been upgraded significantly with 7X2 brifters and a Cannondale carbon fork, new tires, relubed, you know the drill. And it was in beautiful condition, nearly mint.
If it's a downtube shifter C-dale, that's no buy to flip in ANY market.
