Dear Y'all I am currently cycling across the states on a tour but I need to get to Boulder Colorado for the "Ride the Rockies". I have a route which takes me to Pueblo, Colorado and was needing some advice from those that know which would be my best route to take from there. I really want to avoid any real major routes because I am on a windcheetah recumbent and they are pretty low to the ground.

Please reply soon cos I am running out of time to get there.

Thanks

Patrice

"I really want to avoid any real major routes because I am on a windcheetah recumbent"

i'm guessing this means you want to avoid traffic, not hills?

well, y'all can head west on hwy 50 & 120, or 96 and 67 to florence. from there, head north
on hwy 67 through the hills along the old railway to the mining town of victor. if i remember
right, this part is gravel, but well-maintained. it's not bad on a road bike, can't say how
a recumbent would handle it. continue on paved, hilly highway to the town of divide, just west
of 9000' ute pass. you can check with the local sherrif for permission
to camp overnight at hayden-divide park. hills and more hills to the town of pine and highway
285, which will take you into denver. traffic picks up here. i caught a ride from the convenience
store at the junction, so can't advise further.

good luck

I can tell you first hand that hwy 105 from Palmer Lake to Sedalia is a sweet and low traffic road... if it fits into the bigger picture. You can continue on that north on hwy 85 (aka Santa Fe) -- traffic isn't usually too bad -- until the south part of Greater Denver area you can take paved bike along hwy C-470 west and north up to I-70/hwy 6/C-470 area which is just south of the city of Golden. Then take the bike path along Hwy 6 to hwy 93 to Boulder. If you have time, a nicer and safer route would be Hwy 6 to Golden Gate Canyon... ride thru there to Hwy 72, take that north to Hwy 119. These directions assume you have a map :) cuz I wasn't very clear.

umm, how are you running late? The RtR starts in two weeks.

If you're in town July 10, come ride the Triple Bypass... it'll be my first attempt :)
