race starts in 3 hrs. Forecasted 15mph winds are now 25mph gusting to 35. Wind is from the NW which means the first couple climbs will have huge tailwinds, so the race is going to explode. My prediction: we have it down to less than 40 guys (from 129) by the time we get to the Masonville loops, 1 hr in.
Palookabutt - will you be at the crit tomorrow?

Colorado State, green and gold kits, white helmet, orbea. I'll be our second call up since we also have the conference champ who gets a front row call. Though you won't see me at the front until the last couple climbs :)
Tomorrow we'll be in white/green/gold long sleeve skinsuits ;)

I'm planning on it. I'll probably watch at the reservoir today, then follow the pack to Masonville.

Nice job to my friend Courtney for her strong 7th place in the DI women's race! That breakaway was SHATTERED.
Hells YEAH Emma Bast from Mount Holyoke!!! What a win!! I knew she was strong, but damn. Second season racing after coming from rowing.
The coverage isn't that great. Good luck Z.

Couldn't tell who finished first. Streaming video is kind of like watching one of those African safari documentaries filmed from an old Land Rover.
Anyone know what Ze's plate number is? Looks like CSU did pretty well.

made the front group over the dams, got into a bunch of good splits but nothing stuck. Missed the split that did stick, and we had two guys in it so we didn't chase. Tried to bridge once, didn't make it.
Cramped like crazy coming up the last climb, finished somewhere in the 20-50 range. No idea where. Not sure why I cramped either...

I heard from teammate 130 started 50 finished. Brutal.

Jamey Driscol and Will Duggan, both from UVM, took 1st and 2nd. Jamey took a flyer at 3 miles out and held it.
Definitely brutal. The race was down to 50 within the first 30 minutes.

Yeah, she's been steadily getting better and better, and she has a very good sprint. I daresay that if the D2 race had gone down like the D1 race, shattered by lots of attacks, it would have been much harder for her to win. Just a very solid all-round rider, and I bet that she learned to suffer from rowing.
Jamey Driscol and Will Duggan, both from UVM, took 1st and 2nd. Jamey took a flyer at 3 miles out and held it.

This has been a good day for the ECCC. Driscol and Dugan are both friggin' animals - Dugan won the A race at UVM last year by something like 6 minutes. After flatting. UVM is a strong team. I wouldn't want to ride for them, but they have some strong guys.

I do agree with you that they are stronger than hell. What a finish.

I just find the team culture to be unpleasant. I could go into more detail, but I would really prefer not to spend too much time ripping on them. Many of them are perfectly nice guys, but as a collective they make me very uncomfortable. Let's just say that there's a reason that such a huge team has only 3 or 4 women, and it's not because there are only 3 or 4 women at UVM who are interested in racing bikes. I haven't talked to Driscol, but I'm acquainted with Dugan, Hamlin and a couple of the other guys and they really are nice individuals, but as a group, man - very uncomfortable for me. That's all I want to say about that.

hmm...i spend a fair amount of time around the uvm guys....all great to me, all these kids want it bad and work hard .
some of these guys are my teamates on another team....i can assure you they are all stand up individuals.

Yeah, UVM has, by far, the most depth out of any team in the ECCC. It's tough to race against them when you have 2 people from your team in a given category and they have 5-6. Also have to agree with grolby that Dugan's performance at their own race was nothing short of dominant last year.
Also, are results from the RR up anywhere?

Here are a couple of shots I took at the start of the last climb.
Thanks for the shots Palooka! I as in the group right after that. It split on the the loops, I just happened to be on the wrong end of the split. It had done the same thing probably 10 times already and had always come back... of course the one time I'm not riding near the front the split stays away. We had two guys in the front split so we didn't chase, and they got a few minutes in less than a lap (only 20 minutes long).
I'll be racing the crit today as well. I'm the shorter/smaller of the two guys who will be on Orbea's. Come up say hi if you see me :)
Oh and I was super happy for the UVM guys. I'm from Burlington originally so I know both of them well. Driscoll was on my junior development mtb team back in the day. Great guy and freakin' crazy strong.

I didn't qualify for any of the other races, but I'll be at the DII TTT tomorrow.... it's early and it's a short race if anybody wants to ride afterward....

Didn't look too great for the ACCC though. We (UVA) had two riders there. I counted four or so from VT, another few from Navy and a couple of hard core types from Hopkins and Georgetown. Well, and Pfeiffer. Joey Rosskopf did pretty well, and he did very well in our conference.

It has been a great showing for the Florida folk. They are both animals. I hope the success continues in the TTT tomorrow.

NC State got a few in. We had 4 in the RR, 2 finished, not real well. Crit we had 2 start I think, one in 11th, one in 19th or so. Pretty good.
They should be strong in the TTT tomorrow. I'm hoping for good things. I'm also hoping to be strong enough to go with them next year. Doubtful, but we'll see.
