In my quest to find a good bike to fit me, other than my Terry hybrid with two 24" wheels, I'm looking at 26" wheel designed frames. Sakkit is the only one I've found in the USA. Is anyone familiar with them? How do their prices compare to custom? Are their racks as good as they look on the site?

Sakkit is pretty much the best touring bike money can buy, and it takes quite a lot of money.
Bruce Gorden does a more realistically priced model.
Many custom frame builders could do the job.

NB, the 26" wheel touring bike is a often a normal sized bike with MTB wheels, not neccesarily a small bike.

I believe Peter White is in MA. If he can't rustle up a well fitting bike, no-one can.

I have a Waterford Adventure cycle with 26" wheels that is great for touring. It was pricey, but it fits me like a glove, and I can ride it comfortably for hours. Besides the fit, another great thing about it is its ability to accommodate a wide range of wheel widths, plus fenders. Steel frame, long wheelbase, plenty of braze-ons for racks, etc, and the sweetest paint job.

I used to ride a Terry also, 750c rear wheel and 24" up front. It too was comfortable, but I got tired of having to keep two sizes of everything on hand, plus it would only accommodate a very limited range of wheel widths.

Love my Waterford!
