Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have seen several threads about diets and energy boosters. I am a newb just getting in to cycling. I will acquire my first bike in about a week. I cant wait but, I was just wondering what you guys eat. I mean what do you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, while you ride. Tell me what foods go into your body and why. I am trying to figure out a good diet for myself. I have heard eat past or rice for the carbs but, what else does my body need. Any input would be helpful thanks.
A little meat for protein, lots of fruit and veggies. Stay away from saturated fats and cholesterol. But that's just common sense for a healthy living.
Just remember, once you get your road bike, you'll be burning 1500-3000 calories per ride if you get into it. Replace your energy stores with starches, not sugar drinks and fat and cholesterol. Multi-vitamin won't hurt either for all those minerals you're going to sweat out.
Are you riding to lose weight?
