Lotus Eclair. Pulled from the garbage. Full Shimano 600. Fix it? The leather straps in the toe clips is still good even!

i think you should leave it broken. i have an old ross with a full group of that same era of 600. i just couldn't tear it down.

Ya, strip it and fix it. But even better than that, become an e-bay ***** and piece by bloody piece sell off the bits to suckers like isotopesope who need replacement parts for their old ross.

I think it will remain geared for the time being.

On a side note. I wonder if that guy with the Seven parked against his Ferrari is laughing at my crap ass overheating, oil leaking Eagle Talon and my Dumpster Divine Lotus right now. Should I retitle the thread "American or Japanese"?

What idiot put that in the garbage?

The only way I can see it is somebody getting arrested, then evicted while they were in jail...

And I will not give in to the temptation (lights nicotine death stick)

Where on earth do all you guys live? I feel like once a week someone from this board finds something amazing in a dumpster. Do you ride around checking out dumpsters all of the time? The only thing you'll find in Boston is garbage and maybe an old drunk guy. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough.

The house was pretty run down and had been bought by one of those companies that buys cheap and paints then sells really high. I don't know what in the end brought the bikes (Yes! BikeS) to the street, but I wasn't going to let them go to the landfill. In order to ride the Lotus I had to tighten the stem bolt, pump up the tires and put the chain on. It was sitting right next to a Trek 820 with Bio Pace rings which was in a lot worse shape. The Trek 820 is too small and too expensive to put into proper running shape so I'm holding on to it for spare parts and it'll eventually go to Goodwill.

I luv my old ross, "signature," I think. It rocks. it's my commuter. but i think i will tear it down and at least S/S it if/when the team miyata road/race/geared and koga-miyata touring bikes get built....

I speak only for myself, but... if there's a pile of trash sitting around, I've got my eye on it.

We've got 40,000 transient college students in my town. They're 1) lazy 2) wasteful 3) usually have more money than me and 4) probably hate that stupid old 10-speed that mom and dad gave 'em. "But! All my friends ride mountain bikes!!" and that sort of thing.

We've got bikes coming out of our ears...

I find the occasional slightly rusty 3-speed, but that's about it.

These 27x1 1/4 have GOT to go. When I get money she's getting 700c MA3's on her original hubs. The 27's feel like balloon tires.

Funny, I just tore down a orange miyata with the same shifters....

Just last night, set it up with my sweet @ss promax/ma3 wheels I got in the mail yesterday. Now all I have to do to post pictures is wait till my Phil hubs get here and build up the open pro's I have....

I tore it down because it was my favorite frame, that I never rode. Unless you are planning to ride a geared bike, part it out and sell it all on ebay...

People will buy anything.
