Damn "HOT Lane" construction on I495 in Northern VA. I had a sweet route from Annandale to Tysons Corner that took me across the Oak St. Bridge overpass over I495. 2 lanes, not too much local or cut-through traffic.

They're tearing it down for HOT Lane work starting May 10th. They've had the detour signs up for a week or so now, but it's finally going to be shut down.

Now I have to follow the W&OD down to Sandburg and then come in that way. It's only about .3 miles longer, but it's the principle :(

New bridge supposed to be open in 2010. We'll see.

How dare they mess with your bike route!!!! Where I live they are almost done with making a 2 lane state road into a 4 lane road with bike paths on the shoulder. Its supposed to be done this fall. I cant wait!!! When it was a 2 lane (with no shoulder) I wouldn't ride it, toooo many log & dump trucks for my liking. Soon I wont have to drive 4 miles and park at the post office to ride, I'll be able to start off from home.
