It's got clean, simple lugs, a sloping crown fork w/chromed ends, Gran Compe stem, Nitto handlebars, Dia Compe brakes, Kuwahara headset, Suntour Cyclone derailleurs, and Sugino crankset. Frame states made in Japan. (Specs for the 1979 model are here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonmilesnyc/3223878493/sizes/l/in/photostream/). The 1980 seems quite similar, but it's a different color and the hubs are Suzue.) I purchased it last November and have put maybe 150 miles on it. Since I bought it I've put on an Avocet saddle, a new chain and new Michelin World Tour tires (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=41841&cat=47&brand=159) with new tubes. I've also got new bar tape for it but haven't put that on yet (I'll include it). I'd love to keep and ride this bike, but it's just a touch too tall for me. I typically ride a 57 cm frame, but this is probably a 60 or 61 cm (I haven't measured it). Horizontal dropouts and no braze-on cable guides, so it you want to turn it into a singlespeed or God forbid a fixie, it'll have a really clean look.

Apart from one small speck of rust on the left side of the downtube, there's nothing wrong w/the bike. All in all it's just a really sharp-looking, smooth-riding example of Japanese bikebuilding.

I'd like to get $220 (basically what I put into it) plus shipping. Bike is in Lawrence, KS -- if you're in the MOKAN area, feel free to send me a PM and I'll respond w/contact info so you can come check it out.

What is the tubing? Top tube measurement? Are the drops/ fork ends stamped?

I dunno the tubing, but the ends are cast, and it has a nice group, looks like cyclone and a sugino triple crank. I think the professional was the top of the line for Takara. But even their lower end boom bikes were surprisingly decent.

Probably 4130 Chrome-Moly tubing. The dropouts look like SunTour forged dropouts, probably GS.

Chrome-Moly of some kind, probably 4130. Top tube is 57 cm. (Seat tube is 62 cm. -- larger than I thought.) Dropouts are Suntour GS.
