I have a 04 Epic Comp Disc... it has the fox float brain on the rear, and the inertia valve seems to be stuck open (happened in the last 2 weeks or so).

Its not stuck down, it holds air just fine, but the shock just basically is fully active now.

I don't ride it that often (mostyly a roadie) but ferry my 2 year old around on it on the weekends and evenings.

Is this a serviceable fix, or am I stuck with a fully active rear end and the prospect of asking my Specialized dealer to try to order me a new shock?

Is hanging the bike upside down a no-no? I wonder if the valve is stuck in the "active" postion because that is how I store the bike. Its not been a problem till now.... but....

Any help is appreciated.

It is possible storing it upside down could be the cause, but it shouldn't happen by doing so. Give specialized a call and find out about it. I know THEY can repair it, not sure about your LBS though.

I don't recall the details but there have been issues with Brains sticking in the past. I'd contact Specialized about this. I want to say that some of these were getting repaired under warranty but can't find any info. Ask about it.
