Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Want a REALLY TOUGH ride?

Go to: http://www.spokanebicycleclub.org/

Click on: Midsummer Nightmare

( There ARE other hills, and it does get HOT some years!)

Click on: Bike Links, then Spokane Outdoors for rough idea of terrain to the north

This is one of the very few occasions when I have wished I lived somewhere else.

I can't believe there are only two masochists on BikeForums!

(Mainly because I, myself, am suspect; though I do not wish to congratulate myself in this respect, at least, not yet.)

Pete,

I HAVE NOT done this ride, some have accused me of doing CRAZIER things though. A buddy of mine won it once on a TOUGHER course and got heat stroke when another buddy of mine WON it on this course on a one-speed Schwinn "triple bar" Cruiser!!!
The story goes: He would have won by HOURS, if he hadn't stopped, took a nap and waited for a category TWO racer because he got bored with riding alone. If I can remeber right, the winning time that year was about nine hours.

This convinces me that truth is, indeed, often stranger than fiction.

As a flatlander, all I can think of to say is:

Outstanding! Thanks for pointing that out! I live in Missoula, so getting to Spokane for the Double Century is eeeezeee for me! Gives me something to really look forward to! Thanks again! See you there!

I ride. I fall down. I get up.
Meanwhile, I keep dancing.
