Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Reading these boards makes me feel GLAD!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

OK, enough sadness. Here are some feel good stories.

A poster completes his first triathalon:

A poster completes his first century while on tour, on a canal towpath, in a brutal June heat wave:

A former 500 pounder does a 135 mile ride on gravel:

A century ride by a former 329 pound Huffy rider:

And my own modest contribution.... riding a century ten months after learning to balance:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=371043&highlight=century+timeline

Speaking of which, to counterbalance the 'epic' stories, here's one that is downright ordinary - except that I celebrate it in verse. Yes, perhaps the ride was slight in comparison, but it didn't feel that way to me.

Any other suggestions for "glad" threads we can link to here?

Neil, there are so many great stories here, that is why I hang out here more then any place else on the net. Just in the last two weeks we have another 500 pound man (takingcontrol) getting on the bike, making good choices and dropping weight like a rock. We have the Clyde Emeritus Hall of Fame where now there are 3 pages of people dropping under 200 pounds. There are tons of other stories like this that I chose to be inspired by and forget about what small problems that I might have. :thumb:

I agree. I felt like the "sad" thread needed a response. :)

Last week in Marfa Tx. Who rides up to us?

He says, " I just rode 74 miles from Van Horn, Texas."

It was Ken Payton. 82 years old, riding across the USA.
