"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Rolls vs Brooks

I have been using a Selle San Marco Roll saddle for the past year and a half. I bought it based on many of the reviews indicating howcomfortable the Rolls was. However I only find it moderately comfortable After about an hour, it starts to wear on me. So I'm thinking of getting a Brooks B17 again based on many of the reviews I've read on what a comfortable sadd;e the Brooks is (eventually after wearing it in!) So I'm looking fow any feedback on those who have used both a Rolls and a Brooks. Did you notice a noticable difference?

And this pertains to road bike racing how?

I would look at getting a Swift, b17 Narrow or Team Pro.. There are closer in width to your Rolls than the standard B17 which is a fairly wide saddle..

If you want a racing type saddle then you might want to try a Regal.
Its more narrow and less padded than the Rolls.

Brooks can be very uncomfortable depending on the rider.

I have a Regal, Rolls, Brooks B17 (22 years old) and an Imperial.

I do most of my riding on my Rolls. My old B17 is on my wet weather bike.

That's the one place I'd be kind of worried about using a Brooks.

I second or third or whatever the number is by nowthe Regal. I've got 3. One of them however has a slightly different shape that the other 2. Don't know why but it isn't as nice as the others. There's been a guy selling Regals on eBay for awhile now for $50 or less. I got one of the white ones with the World Champion rainbow and I'm quite happy. Stainless steel rivets though.

The Brooks B17 is better suited for riders that are more upright. The Brooks Pro works better for more aggressive riders that ride a lot in the drops. And the Brooks Pro offers more places to position yourself.

For me a Brooks Pro (broken in) is super comfortable, but with a massive weight penalty. I find that a Fizik Arionne is quite similar in shape (works well in the drops and offers lots of different sitting positions) and almost as comfortable but it weighs a whole lot less.

Of course saddles need to work well with your particular butt and everyone's is different.

Huh? It's wider, no? The Regal is 150mm in the back.

I dont have the measurements I took handy but I have had them both next to each other and the Rolls is wider and feels wider than the Regal.

Rolls was "the" saddle for a couple decades in racing. When I started back when, about half the peloton was using one.

I preferred the Turbo.
