So I got roped into this thing by a friend. I'm now on a "bike to work" team in a contest put together by Snohomish County transit (WA). Starting Monday, 10 person teams log their work commuting miles, and at the end of one month there are prizes, party, that sort of thing. At first I was thinking "Kinda silly, whatever". But now that I'm communicating with fellow team members, and gauntletts are being thrown down by our sister team, I'm seeing some real value here!
My problem is that at 5:30 AM, that nice warm car calls my name. It says "Wouldn't you rather kick back in my plush seat with a nice cup of coffee listening to your favorite tunes than burning your legs in the cold and dark on that stiff, uncomfortable bike?" Lately the car wins 2 or 3 days a week. But now I'm hoping the "can't let my team down" mentality has me flipping the bird at that car every morning! That's my plan anyway, 5 days per week on the bike for the next month.
Anybody else involved in this thing?
