The fork is an "Advanced". Asian made and sold by Empella as the "Carbonfire". But quite stiff at 550 grams uncut.
The cranks are 172.2 mm Storck Powerarms. 315 grams for the two arms. But I'm thinking about a switch to Clavicula - just to make sure you'll definitely hate me ;)
Any idea who sells the fork on line?

I've been considering this same fork for my X01. Looking to find a better deal on it though.
Why that fork when the Easton EC90X is available? 120 grams lighter at 430 grams.

Less expensive and a different look for the front end (my reasoning at least).

MIN, you gotta race cross and feel how quickly mud and water will turn a light bike into a Sherman tank.
I've been keeping an eye on your fixed thread ("blingier than a Pista"). Independent Fabrication is my recommendation for that.

You've said that you're not to into custom builds, but since your avatar is a Benjamin...

Try telling that's to Timo with the 1100 gram wheelset! I've raced cross plenty... just not this season.

That's fair. If I were any good at cross then light parts would matter more to me. You know I like to tease. Sorry i missed that ride a couple weeks back.
Whoops that's a Jackson.:D

My very first Cyclocross bike!
It's a Soma Double Cross frame with a Winwood Carbon fork. I built it up with Campagnolo Veloce 1x10, so I removed the shifting guts out of the left lever. The wheels are Khamsin's the other bits are Ritchey, Cane Creek, Tektro, Salsa, FSA.
Surprisingly it weighs 20 pounds!

I haven't dropped my chain yet, I have a chainring guard on the outside. I'm also going to install a third eye as soon as I can pick one up.

Nice bike Stella!
Is that brown Fizik tape?
Yes it is brown Fizik tape. It came in a package with the brown and black arione that's on there. I haven't been able to find the tape separately though.
Hey ~stella,
what size chainring and guard are you running? Awesome build!
Very cool bike. I especially like the matching black/brown saddle. Very balanced bike when it comes to esthetics.
Another compliment on that Soma DoubleCross. Beautiful and smart usage of the brown highlights and gold rims, a very classy bike that also looks sturdy and fun to ride. I'd assign more drool to it (and it deserves much!), but I spent pretty much all of my drool over Timo's bike.
(BTW, Timo, I'd love to see your bike here: www.plusonelap.com)

The chainring is a 42 with a 12-25 cassette.

Man, that DoubleCross is amazing. After I bought my Surly, I reconsidered and wished I had gone with that frameset is the first place, but feeling passed. Now it's back!

I wasn't talking to you! :D
Also just noticed the DT shifters.
Why the single ring MIN? I thought this was going to be your road bike.
I decided on the single once I got an xtr 11-34t cassette. The range is immerse: with a single 44t and the xtr cassette, gearing will be wider than my stock 46/38T with 10-speed 12-27t.
I like the simplicity & elegance and since so much of my riding is solo, a tight gear ratio over 20 speed is not necesary. I might add the 53t back on with a road ratio cassette during summer road rides
I also decided to get custom zipp tubular 360 28 hole rims laced to chris kings. Molly at veloshop in PDX is helping me out.
Makes sense. Very fly.
Here I was excited about picking up some Aksiums.

I was waiting a while for this bike (ordered last sept.) It's gonna be my commuter, it is completely stock in this photo, I have another wheelset (105 with 32 count and 25mm gatorskins for commuting...)

After racing this last season (my first season) on my 30lb Gary Fisher Dual Sport Montare 29er, I picked this up @ a month ago. Will either put the Wound up cross fork it came with back on, or pick up a new Alpha cx-20. I am excited about the Stans Notube Wheelset w/Dt 240s I picked up, as they weigh @ 1400 grams.

I've actually considered rebuilding my 240s hubset with stan's rims as well. what tires are you using for cx?

I am excited about the Stans Notube Wheelset w/Dt 240s I picked up, as they weigh @ 1400 grams.
What are the specs on that wheelset? I ran a quick build through the DT Swiss spoke calculator and got this:
Front Wheel (715g)
- Stan's ZTR 355 29er rim (410g)
- DT Swiss 240s 100mm Center-Lock hub (136g)
- DT Swiss Revolution spokes (32, 2.0/1.5, 3x)
- DT Swiss aluminum nipples (12mm)
Rear Wheel (837g)
- Stan's ZTR 355 29er rim (410g)
- DT Swiss 240s 135mm Center-Lock hub (258g)
- DT Swiss Revolution spokes (32, 2.0/1.5, 3x)
- DT Swiss aluminum nipples (12mm)
Total: 1552g
I suppose if you went with the same build but used the road hubs instead of the mountain-spaced one ... maybe 28h for the front hub ... ya, that'd take the weight down to 1450g. What's the trick to take off that last 50g or were you just rounding off? I'm never (at least in the foreseeable future) going to own a 3lb wheelset but 1400 or 1500 grams still has a damn nice ring to it. ;)

I could very well be rounding off:D, the rims are the 700c version, not the 29er, and weigh in @ 380 ea. So that would account for @ 60 grams, and the hubs are the road versions.
I have Mud 2's installed at the moment.

700c version? I didn't know there was such a thing. Is it just a narrower rim?

You are probably right about the weights you found, I was going off what the guy who sold me the wheelset told me. It is probably just wishful thinking, and the fact that they feel so much lighter than the bontrager select disk wheelset I raced on this last season. From now on I will refer to them as my less than 1600gram wheelset :)

hahaha.. you should bring them to a shop and have them weighed. Curious minds want to know! :)
Have you ever blown a cx tire off the rim or had problems with burping air out? what sort of pressure are you running?

Someday I will get them weighed just for go figure. I have not actually even rode these wheels yet:o. A teamate of mine, who is a much better/more experienced cross racer than me, got a similar set earlier this year and said the wheeset was incredible. Talking to some of the guys at a bike shop locally that push this set up (one of them being the guy I bought from), alot of top racers (of which includes some of the shop employees/owners) are running this type of wheelset @ 25-35 psi with no real issues.
Industry 9 (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=119639) makes a 135mm spaced 700c wheels built around the Stan's no tube clincher rims at a claimed weight of 1589 grams. But I believe this is using the wider width rims for 29ers.

The I9 stuff is incredibly hot, that's for sure. I kept coming back to them when I was looking at options for my bikes at the end of the Summer. I wonder how durable/etc they are and how easy they are to service though. I like how easy my DT 240s hubs are to pull apart/service, and they were highly recommended to me from various teammates/mechanics.

Spent some time and some Christmas gift-card money getting the old Gunnar up to snuff again. I am stating to think ahead and maybe there will be a powdercoating this summer as it sits and waits for the cold weather, and a new fork as well. For now, here it is in its revamped form. It all started when my cheezy Ritchey headset blew up so I installed a new Cane Creek S2, along with new ITM Road Race 300g handlebars (stiff as heck!), new Salsa Delgado's (and front Campag hub) and chain and other bits here and there like cables, housing, bar tape (in effort of mimmicing MIN's Propad :D), etc...

How low on campy's groups do you have to go to get alumium these days? I'd really like to try a cross bike with campy (well, any bike) but I don't want to snap an expensive lever.
I do use a carbon fork and sometimes seatpost so I'm sort of a hypocrite, but oh well.
