Here it is, finally! This spent a long time in the gestation stage, starting in Late October and there still is some work that needs to be done in terms of decals and other stuff but it is minor and it is rideable (i added the pedals afterwards :p). The pedigree is a double butted Ti frame intended for racing and training on and off road. Bike is 56.5cm C-C with a extended head tube to lessen the ugly spacer stack (which I hate with a passion, lol!). Total bike weight is coming to under 18lbs with tubular wheels and cross tires on it. Haven't taken it out on a ride yet but planning on doing so in the next day or so. Whoo Hoo! :D:)

Well for the many bikes I have bought in the past nothing fit so well than this one. The ride is fast and straight. Still looking for the right pedals. Thanks!
gunnar's site is out of the 1990s.. maybe that's how they keep costs so low.
how much did your final build weigh?

It's a "medium" (55cm ETT, 140mm HT, 73.5 degree ST, 5.5cm BB drop)
There are about 3cm of spacers/cable hanger before the 110mm +8 (or maybe +10) degree stem.
The fit is good ... if anything I would like to try a bike with a slightly lower bottom bracket, and I'm always on the hunt for bikes with tall head tubes. In this particular model bike I could probably ride a large as well (57 ETT) with a shorter stem ... but that would be a choice based on aesthetics (probably not the best idea) and I wouldn't want to mess up my balance of weight over the bike when out of the saddle.

Absolutely sick frame! Are you building it up with discs or cantis? The 07 lost the canti mounts, but the 08 brought them back and lost the disc mounts. I've got an 07 on order, but Brodie's timeliness leaves MUCH to be desired. I'll have to post pics once mine's here!

I ordered just a frame. 2007 Romax in 56cm. It came in yesterday, and I stayed pretty late at the LBS building it after work (but my LBS is awesome!). My wife snapped a couple pictures of me building it, but I'll have to post the full report later. Until then, here's the best I got:

Rules for ordering a Brodie:
1) Find a dealership.
2) Be patient.
3) Realize that their sizing chart is about 1 size off (order a size smaller, IMO)
4) Be patient.
5) Love your LBS for being patient with you and helping you get an awesome bike.
So this has been a long time coming, but I figured I’d post a few pics and the build sheet as this is to be my main commuter. The commute is 6.5 miles, 99% on road, 5 days a week. I wanted to build something that could be robust all season, take panniers and fenders, and be pretty fast for the occasional group ride/sprint tri/overnight tour. And if the local cyclocross circuit would let an amateur run a commuter with disc brakes, then that too. Pretty wide range of tasks, but I think it’s a nice compromise all together.
The 2007 Romax frame got the call because of the sloping top tube, disc tabs, rack mounts, cyclocross geometry, all at the right price. The Spinergy wheels were an ebay find prior to settling on a frame, and I haven’t seen anything like them anywhere (700c 32h disc wheels below 1700g). Avid BB7’s, FSA crankset, Xpedo pedals, allen skewers and the Selle Italia were the logical choices. For my commute that is mostly all pavement, I could have gone with a true touring/road tire, but I wanted to keep it a little ‘cross, hence the Vittorias. I’ll probably end up on some Schwalbe touring tire in a few months, but these are fun for now. Great in grass/hard pack dirt. The SRAM Rival group was probably a deviation from common logic (and my LBS’s love for Shimano), but the solid feel of the brake levers, aero cabling look, weight, and wanting to be different made that selection. The Salsa bars are HUGE, but I’m loving the many hand positions they offer. The LBS owner commented that they’re nearly MTB bar width if you grab them like they’re bar ends, offering some really useful leverage.
He is a smidge over 21# in current form, and the racks and fenders are going on in a few days. The LBS has dubbed him “Cry Baby”, because that’s what they called me when I whined about my bike not being here for 3 months. I think it suits the blue well. I ordered a 56cm, which should be way too small by their sizing chart as I’m 6’1”, with a 33” inseam, but the standover is perfect. I went with a 130mm stem to get me a little over the bars, but that might be overkill, so we’ll see if I need to go back to the 100mm after riding it a bit fully loaded.
Build sheet:
SRAM Rival Shifters
SRAM Rival rear derailleur

Thanks for the kind words. I wish they would put up that pic on the Brodie website, but sadly the Romax for 08 is disc-less, so they'd be advertising a product they couldn't deliver. I think they have a few of the 07 (and 06 apparently!) frames left, but once those are gone you've got to buy the Ronin as a complete bike. It's not as nice tubing, probably close to a pound heavier I'd guess from seeing a couple here in the shop. My LBS owner is a huge proponent of CX bikes as general purpose bikes for people, so he's trying to get as many of these Brodie Speed series in the shop as he can. Unfortunately, their supply line isn't great on them: they sold out of 2008 Ronins in 56 and 58 before February :(. They said the 2009's will start being available in September, so hopefully they'll realize the demand for CX bikes and order from Taiwan accordingly. Being primarily a MTB company, it's probably a bit of a shift for them, as they were arguing that a 58cm would fit me perfect at 6'1", as I stood over a 56cm Ronin in the store!
I'm interested in seeing your bike setup as well. There are some subtle differences between the 07 and 08 Romax frames, but I think yours is probably the sweet spot by having the butted tubing but being able to run either brake type like the Ronin. Should be a real winner!

PP would you recommend going down to a 54 or 53 on the 07 sizing for a guy with 29.5" bare inseam and 5'10 ht?
I'm interested in a Ronin but there is only one Brodie dealer in my province. He has one 07 left and it is a 53cm frame which looked on their sizing chart to be waay small. I can get a good deal if I act on it but didn't know if I should because it looks too small for me on paper.

I'd say that's a step in the right direction. My LBS owner got the same frame as me, but in a 54. He rides a 56cm Fuji cross and we put my 56 Brodie Romax up next his, and though the Brodie's top tube eventually slopes lower than the Fuji, where you're actually standing over is higher on the Brodie. The shop had a 60cm Ronin in for a customer who was coming from a 61cm Bianchi San Jose: the Ronin was the same or maybe a bit bigger. So it seems like they run about a size big from what their sizing chart and conventional logic would say. At least it's not as bad as Ridley, where I think I ride a 54! I'll probably be swapping out the stem from 130 to 100 this week too to see how that adjusts my riding position,as I'm a little stretched out. I'd say put a set of wheels on the 53cm in the shop and see how the stand over fits. The rest can be fixed with stems and seatposts!
