yes, but technically if you take the fenders, disc brakes, lights, etc... off then it is a cross bike, I mean if I take a road bike and put a set of time trial bars on it does that mean that it's no longer a road bike but is now a TT bike? lol

Nope. Course the trial bars would probably be too high and the seat tube angle too slack. :D

Just finished with this thing today. Still tweaking the set up. Disregard the huge stack of spacers and I just noticed the chain came off. Can't wait to really put it through its paces tomorrow after work.

Did a few upgrades. The headset is changed, and due to that the brakechatter is all gone.
New fork, DA 10 brifters and Stronglight crank.

Are you running compact cranks (34/50)? How is that working for you?

Are you running compact cranks (34/48)? How is that working for you?

Honestly. It痴 really not working for me at all. Too much shifting in front, but the pic is taken only a few days before I知 going on vacation and I just wanted a wider range for that occasion.
A single 42 or a 38 / 48 are much more preferable, and they'll probably be back on soon.

I知 goanna give 36/46 a try first. I知 also goanna try to dig up a reasonable
lightweighted11-25(27) cassette.

My long announced new bike is ready and it turned out to be...two bikes.

Both with a Kinesis frame (one gloss painted, the other anodized) and Empella full carbon fork, Campa Chorus, Spooky carbon cantis, Chris King headset, Thomson Elite seatpost and X2 stem, 3ttt Less XL handlebar, Flite saddle, Time atac XS carbon pedals, Record hubs, Sapim spokes and Schwalbe Fast Fred tires. One has an FSA carbon monoblade crankset and Corima aero carbon rims, the other an alu Chorus crankset, Chorus front derailleur and Mavic open pro rims.

I took one of the bikes to France during the holidays and took some pics. I will take pics of the other bike asap...

Very nice Timo. Very nice indeed.

I知 posting my new ride next week I guess.
Still not a 100% sure how I知 goanna configure the different
bikes, but I think I知 making the Specialized a little more hard core
and the new one more into a Marathon / Cross / Touring hybrid kind of thing.

Key words are Airborne Carpe Diem, Chris King, AlphaQ CX, DuraAce and Thomson

My new (to me) Salsa La Cruz. It is my only bike for the coming year, and it works great. Not too thrilled about the Avid brakes, will probably change them when finances permit.
Anyone know where I can ride around/in Montreal without risking being run over, or hitting pedestrians??

Mt Royal Parc! There should a be gang of us up there on the weekends when cross season approaches. The guys & girls go there for practice. They meet up on weekdays to but it usually conflicts with work. See you at the races!

Lectron, I see you use a Thomson stem just like me. It looks like an X2 but the rise looks drifferent from the available 10 degrees. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Bought an X2 -10ー for the new Airborne. What you see on the Specialized is an X4 120mm 0ー. So no Timo. No tricks involved. :)

So here's my new ride. This bike's gonna serve as a Touring/Marathon bike as well,
and I'm waiting for a German stainless steel light weighted rack (Tubus Luna) to carry my Ortlieb bags.

The Specialized CX is waiting for a new 42T chainring/guard and a Shimano R600 brake lever.
They are both being equipped with an IRD 11 - 28 Cassette.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Lectron/Nettbilder/CD003.jpg

I'll post some more and better pics when they're both ready. Still waiting for some small parts
for the final touch

Here's an NYCBikes Uberurban frame (custom painted). Ultegra/105/Truvativ mix of components (what I had lying around/got from e-bay/got from LBSs who were gonna throw it away). A little on the heavy side, but a good sub $450 bike.

Just an update to my CX. The new Xero XR-1 wheelset went through some off-road training and my first CX race unscathed. We'll see how they last the whole season. I also went with narrower traditional bend bars to better match my road bike feel. It feels much better now.
