that is awesome! Basically similar to what I want to do with my fixed-gear cyclocross-based commuter bike. 16 tooth on one side, for normal riding, 20 tooth on the other for off-road and winter riding. Btw, that cage is sexy.

Winter training bike

I bought this used Stelle CX frame, tires & brakes and a new crank; everything else was migrated from my back up road bike.
I never seemed to need my backup road bike so at least I get some use of of this setup.

Dura Ace 9 speed, Avid Shorty, Ritchie stem, Specialized bar & seat post.

Can you give us more details about that frame? What are your plans?

Can you give us more details about that frame? What are your plans?

The frame is an On-One Dirty Disco (http://shop.titusti.com/products/on-one-dirty-disco-carbon-cyclocross-frameset-preorder). It's basically and all carbon cyclocross frame with disc mounts. I am going to add the following now that I have the frame: Avid BB7 road disc brakes (160mm), SRAM Force gruppo, CK hubs and BB, DT Swiss RR465 rims and FSA K-Wing compact handlebars (love those drop bars). Thinking about the Schwalbe Marathon Supreme HDV tire for my 20 mile round trip commute.

My original plans for this bike was to build up a winter commuter so that my six13 dura ace doesn't have to endure the winter roads as I ride to work everyday. I was always a runner first, cyclist second (I know, boooooo!) but I blew out my knee and have a really bad nagging hip injury from a big wipeout surfing up here on the frigid coast. Cycling doesn't seem to aggravate either of the injuries much, so now I am slowly transitioning to being a cyclist first (well, maybe get back into running someday).

At some point, when I can recover from these annoying injuries, I would like to attend cyclocross events up here in Portland, but for now, I am sticking to the roads.

2011 Fuji Altamira CX2.0
Full carbon frame, Ultegra drive train, FSA Team carbon crank, Avid Shorty 4s, Oval Concept carbon clincher wheelset.
It's pretty much stock minus the Thompson 0 offset seatpost and the fork mounted brake hanger. I don't have any stationary pictures of the bike yet been too busy with work, school, and racing but now that the season is over I plan to snap a few quick shots.

Build complete. Unofficially, right around 16lbs. Now I just need to find some fenders that will fit for my commuting (no fender mounts on the dropouts, no traditional brake mounts). Maybe a seatpost fender, like the ones used with mtn bikes?

Looks sick. I've been riding my Soma Doublecross w/ disc brakes for awhile. I love it, but I always wonder how it would feel to have carbon w/ disc brakes. I didn't realize they made carbon frames with disc brake mounts (I've been out of the cycling news loop for awhile since I stopped working at the bike shop)

Mine is currently set up more as a road bike than a CX bike. Not quite finished yet...
231889

Edit: Made some changes to this. I put Tektro RX3 mini-V brakes on instead of cantilevers, so I was able to get rid of the front/rear cable hangers. It's a full carbon frame/fork, Ultegra crank and RD, 105 FD (because it had a clamp ring and my Ultegra one did not), Suntour rachet shifters (I didn't care for the brake shifters I had on it). It's currently under 20lbs, which I'm hoping to get lighter when I can afford more upgrades. Whole thing was under $500 so far.

It's interesting shifters. Compatible with Shimano and Campy 2,3 /6,7,8 speed. I use with shimano derailleurs and they are no problem

My budget touring/poor weather/bad roads bike (~$650):

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii199/MidwestUllrich/IMG_4985.jpg

51cm Cannondale CAAD 8: 1x9 speed
HungFu full carbon fork, Ultegra hubs Mavic Open Pro 9-speed wheelset, 39t Ultegra road crank, Ultegra front derailleur used as chain keeper, Dura Ace bar end shifter, Easton EA50 stem & handlebar, Crane Creek SCR-5C brake levers, Shimano BR-R550 cantilever brakes and Michelin 700x32 cyclo cross jet tires.

I am still trying to get used to riding it (making tight turns in particular). Although it is a 51cm, the headtube is slightly higher than my 54cm road bike. I have to lower the stem all the way down to match. Other than that, everything works great. Not harsh at all.

First Post! But thought I'd share since it is mostly due to a lot of helpful advice and wisdom on these forums that led me to choose the Surly Cross Check. I have the 2012 version, which now has a long cage derailleur, 32T in rear, a triple Sora front derailleur. So for anyone interested in converting a Cross Check to a triple, or who wants some bigger cogs in the rear, the 2012 model is tweaked to make that easier. To make it a triple, you'd just need a larger BB and the inner chain ring & bolts. I'm still waiting for my pedals to arrive, so just shop pedals on her now:

I recently bought this: RIDLEY X RIDE with Ultegra Levers and Rear mech, also V-Brakes in place of the usual Canti's! I'm going to change the Knobbly tyres to a set of Michelin Lithion Road Tyres 700 x 23, as most of my riding is done on the road! I'm really surprised how lighweight this bike is! (It's advertised as being the WORLDS lightest Alloy framed X Bike) My Cube Carbon is extremely lighweight and the ridly is almost as lightweight. : >

Since everything just got covered with ice last night I decided to get some studded tires on and switch over to mtb platform pedals just in case. My first time with studs, great fun!
Just in case anyone wonders about the tire clearance for this bike I think I probably maxed it out with the 35 sized marathon winters, slightly bigger could work but might require shaving off side tread.

I recently made some changes to my cross bike. Currently outfitted in rain/commuter/do-anything mode. I'm really digging the 1x10 rival shifter, x9 rd & cassette combo. It's got an enormous 11-36 cassette which, while much larger than I'd ever race with, is nice for getting up steep gravel firelanes.
