that'd be like $400 american, right? it looks good enough. specially for that price. that aluminum is the same that santa cruz and evil use. looks like it would last a while and would be worth upgrading later on. i say go for it!
it may not be good for big hit stuff. ask them about that.

well, i've been thinking about it. I'm probably going to sell my Minelli echo, and buy a bigfoot.

the bigfoot is a free ride bike. this means it was design to handle just about any **** an average weight rider could throw at it. if you don't plan on doing 10 foot drops to flat or 30 foot drop on a decline then that bike should hold up for years.
it also has some pretty good gears. i think that bike would probably last you a decade without the stuff mention above. i'm still not sure if you really neeeed something that tough. but it does look like a good bike. what is their warranty?

its my vehicle for 2 years. get all around town, to and from school, maybe hop a couple curbs, small jumps along the way. maybe if im drunk, a 8 foot jump onto a decline.

... man. we need to start a big guys forum. that way everyone can commment on their experiences and such. they have a woamns forums. i think they should have a big guys forum. the should probbably have a weight weiner forum too... sigh.. but most road bikes are designed for the wieners anyway.
i say get the wolverine and try not to get drunk on it. if ya get drunk on a bike you'll just end up harming the bike and yourself anyway. the wolvering is 6061 and that's pretty important. there also the bianchi ocelot. it's steel and even cheaper. probably not as good a bike. i dunno. i like this wolverine. get it.

a good friend of mine just got it, he seems to like it. hes a big guy as well.

If you live in Canada, there are lots of good bikes in that range, Rocky Mt. for one. Shop around, test ride different makes and models to be sure what suits you and your riding style. If you're going upto $900, finding a really good bike should not be a problem.

i am not getting the wolverine
my friend, 50 lbs lighter then me, has had his 3 days, and has already broken 2 things on it. the seats come loose, and broke OFF, and the front disc brake messed up

Hoss, Sasquatch, bigfoot are all based on similar designs. They will all handle you fine. Its the parts that you need to worry about. You are gonna smoke through rear wheels and bottom brackets...the more you invest now the less you will spend later.
BTW I am 270 and ride a Kona Roast 2002 which IS th exact same as the hoss 2004.

If you are looking for a bike STOCK under 1000$ where the components will hold up to your weight, I will quite honestly tell you to give up. Parts on sub 1000$ bigboy hardtails are generally crap. Say this 5 times fast
"I will break parts no matter which bike I get. "
Usually if a disc brake messes up its rider error. :)...for longevity I would worry about the frame breaking. Everything else is little things. (really...)

Their website lists 6061 in "Key Features", but 7005 in "Specs" ?
On a side note, what is the benefit of having a single disc brake, on the front? Since disc brakes generally deliver more stopping power then V-brakes, wouldn't there be a greater chance of flying over the bar?

No idea. The hoss unfortunately is a bit more. As for the norco's, the price changes too much between regions.
