As I was going up Camino Alto today, I came upon this guy wearing a Molteni jersey, we both looked at each other for a second and he yells my name! I had no idea who he was at first but turns out he was one of my old buddies I used to train with in the early 1970's, we hadn't seen each other in 36 years but he immediately recognized me..amazing how things just happen sometimes.

We rode to Nicasio, refueled and talked old times. He's about ten months into riding again and still has some contact info on some of the old group so just maybe, the old farts may ride again, at least as a memorial.

His bike is something else, a custom made bamboo frame and wood wheels with sew-ups. At Nicasio, a number of people came up to ask about the unusual bike. Here's some pics.

Can you believe he's in his 60's?

The bamboo bike attracted a lot of attention.

Screw the bamboo. Super Record hooked up to a BB7 Road? That's pretty sick.

Awesome. He's looking pretty darn good for a "riding buddy from the 70's" :thumb:

Bamboo bike, I never thought I'd see one being used. Looks great!

Hey, did anybody catch the Chinese characters on the dt? They actually are Chinese phonetics for Calfee, and the words, I believe, loosely translate to "expansively flying". How did he swing that?

I can't read the character, however, on the badge in the head tube.

He looks amazing for being 60+ y.o. You should post the "Reunion Ride" here if you ever get it going.
