Mountain Biking - In the market for knee/shin gaurds

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
well first off i didnt know if i should post this here or in the safety section. so if i screwed up im sorry ahead of time. anyway im in the market for some knee/shin gaurds. ive been looking at 661, fox, and rockgaurdn. id like to have the all in one style with the knee and shin guard. if anyone has any suggestions or warnings on what not to get its greatly appreciated. thanks again. later.

I've got a set of sixsixone 2x4 (or 4x4's can't remember which) that are a size L.
I've got HUGE calves and the middle section doesn't fit around them, so I can only use the top and bottom strap.
I've used them like 3 times.
If you want them, I'll get them to you for a decent price!
I like the pads, just wished they fit my legs. I've heard that Roach pads fit a bit bigger. Either that or I need to get some that don't have the "wrap around" feature.

Ive got some dainese shinnies. They are pretty good but if you dont get a good fit they will slip down. Also they wrap around so it protects the the back of your leg from pedal tatoos etc.

I have both the Fox 911 and the 661 4X4's and I only wear the 661's when it gets cold. In Florida that means one day every other year. In the summer, the 661's will cook your brains!

Now you tell me. I wondered why I kept running into stuff and my legs were beat up!
thanks for all the suggestions.... yeah ive read some reviews on the the 661's and they said they get pretty toasty too....maybe ill get the daineses or the foxs. o one other question... what size do you guys think i should get?... im about 5'10'' , medium build, my lower legs arent too gynormus but theyre not girly(my lower legs are average size. i just wanted an excuse to use the word gynormus haha).... any thoughts?
I have the 661's 4x4's and they are hot but they give you a lot of movement. I like them...most people don't know that you can take the back off to make them cooler, they'd rather complain about it. I'm about 5'8 and medium build and I have the mediums...they fit great.

I ride with CoreRat pads. I have the entire set and LOVE them. You can unstrap the knee pad when climbing and just let it hang. Great pads but a little hot. The Haro Shin guards are cooler and cost less. They are not as durable, but a good value and any Haro dealer can get them.

I have the 661's and theyre really lame. They fall down alot and the velcrow is already worn bad.
Try the Kona slash pads..theyre pricey but the best in the biz.
On a budget....the lizard skins can be beat!
