Mountain Biking - Bike to Work Week - - Please do your part.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just a reminder that this is National Bike to Work Week. Many of your communities may be depending on your participation to bolster numbers for a variety of advocacy projects. If there is a local group that you can register with and log your miles, by all means do so. Hey, we may not be road riders much (or maybe even any) of the time (well, or maybe you are - - that's cool too); but anything we can do to make our communities more bike-friendly is a plus.

For my part, I got the DB out, hung it on the rack and drove Mrs. D. to work, where I parked the car (biking from home not as much of an option when you live 25 miles outside of town). I geared up, rode into downtown Spokane where the kickoff festivities (including a free pancake breakfast) were happening and then did the 5-mile ride up to my workplace. So, I have to confess it was not car-free; but at least it was car-10-miles-less.

The city council will be voting next week on adopting a Bike Master Plan which would go a long way toward making Spokane a more bike-friendly town.

Side note: It was the maiden voyage for my freshly mended collarbone. Felt good to get back in the saddle even if it was all road and sidewalk. At least it doesn't hurt to pop a wheelie - - that's an improvement. :)

Come on in, the water's fine. :thumb: Most of my saddle time is commuting. I wish I could ride singletrack 7 days a week.

Hey...I rode to work today too! :thumb:
It's gonna rain tomorrow...I wish I had waterproof pants. I'm gonna have some wet knickers ;)

Was raining off-and-on here this morning. I just wore my shorts as it wasn't that cold. Had all my civies stuffed in my messenger bag. But had to wear my street shoes b/c I didn't have room for those.
