Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to the mtb scene, just wanted to give a holler to any of my fellow riders in the dfw area.
I ride a northface yavapai hardtail and absolutley love it ( it was a graduation gift from my parents last year). I know they bought it at galyans. I was skeptical at first but they actually have a decent shop setup ( free tune ups, i bought my dad'a marin alpine for fathers day last year).
Does anybody else around here ride a northface rig? I have the base model ( shimano alivio, rockshox judy tt, truvativ cranks, some decent flattie pedals, which i love).
Thanks guys, and any tips for a new guy would be definitely appreciated

over priced / overweight. you pay about $200 for the trendy TNF logo. solid bikes just not a good deal at all IMO

Great store. When I was there a few months back, they had an assortment of bikes. RMB Flow.....yea thats the only one they had that i can remember but they had nice bikes with good componetry. RS Dukes, Hayes, Easton, Cane Creek etc.

I picked up a pair of cycling shoes from that store for $19.99. How can you lose?

As for tips. Enjoy the sport. Thats all I hafta say.

I looked at Galyans last year when I was looking for a MTB. The place is kind of cool, but pathetic for bikes. They had nice prices on a few Diamondbacks and Marins, but the people were complete idiots and the bikes didn't look like they were taken care of too well. I guess this is another store where some have good bike departments and some don't.

Yea this is true. It definitely depends on what store you go to. I know that there are some awesome LBS but I liked this bike, they fit the frame for me and tuned it up ( trued the wheels, tweaked shifters and what not) and as far as it being over priced, i got mine for about 360$ ( on sale ) and i would say that it is a pretty good value, its got some good components and has held up to the beating that give it pretty da*n well ( i actually do *some dirt jumping with some of my riding buddies). Hahaha you guys say what you will but i love the bike.
