Read more about the Initiative:

On Friday, May 15th (which is also National Ride to work day) at 6pm neighborhood advocates from both sides of the Newtown Creek will join hands for an evening commute and rally for a safer Pulaski Bridge. Pedestrians will march across the bridge to Greenpoint and back, accompanied by dozens of cyclists bike-busing in groups to reclaim space on the roadway. Together, they will hold a rally calling on the City to investigate ways of increasing space on the cramped shared pathway.

The campaign was prompted by ever-growing foot and bike traffic on the narrow shared-use path resulting from growth in Greenpoint and Long Island City, coupled with dangerous speeding by trucks and cars. Community groups and residents from both sides of the bridge have come together in hopes of winning increased space for bikers and walkers.

This event is rain or shine. Please remember to dress appropriately and if you want to ride we encourage you to wear a helmet! Also, if you are interested in volunteering or marshalling the ride please PM me
Thanks and see you there!
