Road Cycling - Road racing rookie/ year planification

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How many races do you plan on doing during a year? Do you do as many as your local/ regionnal calendar allows or you will pick the one you think you have chances at placing well? If Lance is out there, no need to reply, I know which one you are doing already... :D. Do you diversify also with criteriums, hill climb, time trials, and road races? Or you focus on one event? Thanks, Kati
(I am leaving on a cross Canada in 6 days now, and when I come back will make planification for next year, might do a few remaining crits, and a time trial if I feel like it but my focus will be for next year.)

i don't really plan out my racing schedule. i've done 11 this year. the closest thing i came to having a plan was something like:

spring: collegiate road
summer: track
fall: collegiate mountain

since i more than likely won't be returning to school in the fall, after the summer is over i haven't really got much on my plate.
