I had 26x1.9 mountain bike tyres on my specialized mountain bike. I decided
I wanted some road tyres to help improve my road speed, so I bought
some Nimbus Armidalo 26x1.5 tyres (and inner-tubes). Well I tried putting
the nimbus tyre on my front wheel but it won't go all the way on, last bit won't
tuck into the wheel rim. I cannot now get the thing off either....the tyres are very
inflexible as they are puncture proof...any suggestions? Did I mess up on the tyre size?

^^^^^^^^^^^THAT and some oil :D, or a pair of strong handsNO OIL! Never ever use oil to mount a tire. If you need to lubricate some dish soap is more than adequate and it'll rinse right off.

Have you bought size 27" tires instead of 26" maybe? Other than that, they should fit. Need more info. to be of more help, sorry....

They'd be too big sparky he's having trouble getting a 26x1.5 on in place of a 26x1.9

27" tires have been around longer than you or I have been alive and they are still quite common (as far as replacing them goes).

Check here for MOST of the sizes that have been availiable over the years. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

By oil I meant something to lube it up with, to insure easy fit. Is it too late to correct myself :D ?

Not exactly, but Geez man. Its like...this forum is for people to ask about buying new cheap bikes instead of biking as a whole. Y'know? We need controversy here, and hot chicks and dead animals and fire and feces and slayer and chicken sandwiches.

I really think that most of the people who come here and ask those cheap bike questions are scred off by RM Just a thought

Definately a good site. I spend quite a bit of time there trying to tranlsate the nuclear physics into something relating to what I understand about suspension. haha

I used some plastic - tyre irons - were useless - still couldn't wedge that tyre into the rim :(
