Bicycle Mechanics - EZ3 derailer.....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

is too damn low to the road. Can it be readjusted back towards the rear to give it more clearance? Or can I replace it with a differant model?? This is a piss-poor design.

Are you talking about the Sun / Easy Racers EZ-3 trike? Or is there a model of derailleur by that name? If it's the former, you might want to post this in the Recumbent forum as well. Someone who visits there might have conjured up a fix, if it's a common problem.
Off the top of my head, maybe you could construct a "guard" out of something like an old milk jug or anti-freeze bottle. You'd have to get creative about how to attach it to the trike, though.

yes, it's the Sun EZ3.
I turned my ez3-usx into a cargo trike, any one looking for info should email me at jawnn.geo@yahoo.com

If it's the USX, the rder is the Achillies heal of that machine. Someone once questioned on another thread whether that was where Gardner grasped the trike as he dipped it into the river Styxx or if he was listenning to Styxx while designing the drivetrain.
