Hi,
I have ridden a road bike for several years. I was in an accident awhile back and can no longer ride a road bike comfortably. I have no desire to ride off road, but need something that allows me to ride in a more upright position. My problem is I like to go fast. The mountain bike and hybrid I tried are nice bikes, but seem to be heavy and slow. Does anyone know a way to convert my road bike, if possible, or have a suggestion as to an alternative.
Thanks,
Liferbiker

Welcome to BF.

Have you looked at flat bar road bikes? Almost as light as a standard road bike but it allows you to ride in a more upright position.

Thanks,
Ill Check into that. Would anyone know is a conversion from my TCR 1 could be made to do this?

The kind of bars are not the main factor. I'm sure you could gain a more upright position on your current bike by swapping out the stem for one with a different angle and reach...at worst you might need to get a new fork with an uncut steerer tube so you can add more spacers.

Just putting flat bars on your TCR may not make your position all that upright...and doing so would require new shifters, brakes, etc. I would try getting your current bars higher before going to a different bar.
