Recumbent - Saw another recumbent trike today!

I'd glimpsed this guy from a distance, but never to speak to. But today I had to take the cat to the vet this AM and so took the morning off from work. I was coming to work at about 11:30, and came around the corner and there it was, parked outside the ice cream shop. I got out of mine and looked in, and there he was getting a cup of coffee. He came out and we compared our machines. I have a Greenspeed GT-1, Series II; he had a Terra Trike, I'm not sure which model.

His had bigger wheels, and disc brakes. I have small wheels and roller brakes. He had fenders, large panniers, a computer, and an elaborate lighting system. I have no fenders (yet) small panniers, no computer, and a bare-bones lighting system.

But, as far as I know, we are the only two tricumbents in town!

There are so many two wheelers out there, it seems we almost never see another trike. But I've had some rides where I've seen a half dozen.

Eventually, trikes will rule the world!

Well, maybe they would if they were cheaper.:p

I love my Greenspeed, but as a practical mode of transportation, it leaves a bit to be desired. Getting it inside is difficult, locking it up is a pain, and in inclement weather one is likely to get soaked.

It was a recumbent bike that gave me the idea to get my own 'bent to take up my cycling passion again in spite of my bad back. I chose a trike because I wasn't convinced I could manage the starting and stopping very well and even little falls can mess up my back. I've only seen one other trike since I bought my Trice QNT. It was up in the far north of Sweden as we stopped at a little hotel restaurant. I saw it in the distance as we came out after eating.

I've seen about half a dozen bikes though. Four of them in one day that were particpating in a cycle race with the mass of DFs.

Around here at least 3 out of 4 are tadpoles.

They let bikes on there? But I suspect it could get hot out there sometimes.

I almost never surf this forum, but I'm glad I did. Lets get together and trike some of our common routes. I'm usually at Ellen"s about three days a week at about 11:00. My 81 year old buddy is there almost every day at 11. He or Ellen can tell you how to get in touch with me. I ride almost every day.
