Introductions - New commuter: Alphie

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello folks. 1 week and counting until I pick up my '02 Alpe D' Huez and start commuting to work. Only about 14 miles round
trip, but in the Atlanta area that can be a challenge as well as life-threatening. Got fed up with high gas prices and buying
foreign oil to support our petroleum addiction. I like environmentalism made personal.

Hi. I hope you like visiting here.
There are a few other bike commuters, from the Atlanta area, who post frequently. I've heard about the challenge of riding there, though I understand it's pretty. There has been a lot of discussion about the effects of increased gas prices on people's likelyhood to bike more. I haven't heard of anyone else who was nudged just enough by this.

Its good to see more people commuting, because the more cyclists there are on the streets, motorists will be more likely to treat cyclists as part of the normal traffic scene. Things would be pretty good for bike commuters in Montreal if they filled the pot-holes in the streets. Good luck.
Hi,
Waiting for a new bike can drive you nuts. I waited about 3 weeks for my Rans Tailwind recumbent. It was worth the wait. Commuting is now a blast. Little traffic in my area at 6:00AM. Afternoons can be a pain though as some of the businesses let out. Enjoy your new ride.

Welcome Alphie from a former commuter (Decatur to Norcross).
When I get another job I'm hoping I'll be able to commute cause I sure miss it.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. First day of commuting went pretty well, had to go in to work at 3 pm, got out at 12 am.
Hills that i barely noticed in the car were quite apparent cycling to work. :) I like to think I'm in pretty good shape,
I run 6 miles, 5 days a week; but cycling definitely uses different muscle groups. Muscles I have not used in years. :)
