Anyone racing in it on Sunday? I will be in the Cat 5s and testing out the new DT rim that I got my powertap built into this week.
Also it appears Driscoll from Rock Racing will be making a show in the Pro 1/2/3 race. Interested to see how he does since he was big into cyclocross and got back into some more road riding.

Yes.
good luck, stay at the front of this race. your cat 5 event is like 10 miles and will take about 25 minutes. go from the gun, seriously. a cat 5 field would never know what hit them.
then stick around the rest of the day to see all the balto junkies and prostitues wake up on the park benches, and count the crashes. there will be no fewer than 20 (crashes, there will be at least 2x as many junkies and prostitutes, it's baltimore afterall).
bikejam, in my opinion, great event, bad race. I gave up on it after the 7 crashes in the masters race 2 years ago, where I spent more time in the grass and did more cyclocross remounts than I ever have in an actual cross race.

that chicane at the start/finish "hill" is pretty annoying, but otherwise, it doesn't really warrant all of the crashing.
I'll be in the 35+. doubt I'll race twice.

Yeah I plan to get out front at the gun, dont want to get stuck in the middle of the pack in the first round about.
GamJams report on last years race noted the same thing regarding crash's. I am not looking forward to them so hopefully my plans to get out front will help prevent that.
Question regarding the parking. Based on the notes from the event, is there a fairly large distance from parking to registration/check-in? Just trying to figure if I rather get all suited up and then head to registration, or do the normal get # and go back to car deal.

agree. I've done this race a number of times (4 or 5), and I cant recall one crash at the chicane. everywhere else, I can recall crashes, including one where a group of folks opened one of the gates on the course, but not at the only place on the course that requires technical ability.

I'm on the waitlist for the cat 5 race. From what I've heard, my chances of getting in are slim.
I think I'm going to do the Conestoga Challenge instead.

I am in the 4 @ 4
Lucky, you dont have to get up early to race at 8:30. I cant wait till I can get these last races in so I can move into Cat 4.

No way.
After this fun time last year, I vowed not to go back. I think I'm still trying to regain the racing aggressiveness I had before this race last year. Regarding the other comments, I was taken out in the very wide, sweeping turns past the S/F line. People are kind of dumb in the chicane in that they forget to shift down after going really fast in the approach to it, but little carnage tends to happen there.
FYI, the EMTs didn't have any ice, and the vendors/VIP tent caterers stopped giving away ice to people involved in crashes after a while. I walked away with a mild concussion (i.e., a big headache and a case of the stupids), 1 alcohol wipe, and a sandwich bag partially full of ice.

Hmm seems like things could get a little messy, just going to have to watch for the sketchy people and hope there are no crash's.

Well got 6th in the Cat 5's so I was pleased. Also no crash's and that was with a wet course so that was good.

Interesting you post that picture of you, I was Evan ( Wearing Blue Racing Kit), the guy that came up to you after the race and chatted about the Bunny Hop race 2 weeks ago. Finally I have met someone on this forum at a race  .

 haha, it was nice to meet you :thumb: Every one of my events this year was in the wet, hopefully the next race will be otherwise

I would have rather it been raining then just wet roads, then at least my bike and me would have been clean. All my races except Bunny Hop and this one have had nice dry weather, but I actually kinda enjoy racing in the rain.
We will see what weather I get in 2 weeks at Sat. Fulton Road Race and then Sun. Chipotle Bryan Park Circuit Race.

I am pretty sure that they didn't include DNF/Cut riders. I had 2 teammates in the 35+ race that were cut and not on the results. In the 4 field we started with a full field of 100 and only 40 some went the distance.

Yeah, that was no joke. I did a poor job of warming up and staging and consequently started at the back of 100 riders. Within half a lap I realized there was a gap opeing about 10 riders ahead of me, so went around them, and by the end of the first lap the same thing happened again. So I think we lost about 25% of the field after 1 lap.
I got to the front after about 5 laps, things were much more pleasant there.

Yeah I dont think they show DNF in the results. Not sure if it was same circumstances but there had to have been more then 26 people that were at the start of the Cat 5's. I guess some got pulled because we did lap a couple guys.

I don't know why I keep insisting on doing this race. It always ends in tears for me.
