Cyclocross - Motobecane Fantom Uno

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
How do these bikes run size wise? On my road bikes I like a 56CM TT and 30" - 31" standover height. The 54 has good standover height but the TT is a bit short.

Hello I think it depends on how you wish to use the bike. if you are going to cyclocross with it you may want it shorter. I just ordered one and I am going to use it on the road so I got it as close to my road bikes as I can. when I get it assembled and ride it I will tell you how it is. OH I really wanted a Bianchi San Jose but for the money I am going to counterfit it SSHHH

I ride a 52cm- 53cm Road bike and I have a 52cm San Jose. The San Jose sits tall when I run a 700x35c tire usually a maxxis when I'm training on the local fire roads or single track. I race 30-32c tires. Either vittorias xn or xg's or michelin's muds/sprints. I mount and dismount fine. I would concentrate on a comfortable top tube length and then stand over height. I'd rather run a shorther top tube and have the option of variable stem lengths then a long top tube and just a single, maybe two stem length options.

Hello cs1. I got my Fantom Uno yesterday and assembled it already. I plan to ride it later but as I suspected the 58 seems to fit just like a 59 road bike, where I intend to use mine, so if you are going to use it for off road think smaller. I'll let you know how it rides later.

So how did your ride go? I've been checking this bike out for over a month and think I might purchase it later today. It will be the first bicycle I have owned since I was 7 years old, I'm 27 now.

Hello Jonathan: I just took a short 'shake down' cruise sat. I rode it about 10miles today. it feels great and handles real well. I just need to get rid of the knobby tires. OH I did flip the hub and am riding single speed not FIXED.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm probably going to use it for mild off road, nothing too intense. Right now I like my bikes with a 56 TT. Which looks like a 54CM for the Uno. I was just looking for some feedback with real users.

Looks great. I went ahead and ordered the Uno and it should arrive Monday.
I'm excited. First bike I've had since I was a little kid.

Way too nice a bike for a thumbnail. Hope you don't mind me enlarging it. It looks great. The white frame looks nice.

Thank you CS1, it does look better like that. although you can plainly see I need some red valve caps. *giggle*

My brother and I are kind of anal when it comes to bikes. You should see my yellow bike with yellow side walls and bar tape. When I found out hudz made yellow Campy style brake hoods I almost bought a set. I thought it might be overkill though.:)

well there is nothing like being color coordinated. I take the oppsite approach though and rather than que on the frame color I use the color on the decals or in the case of my Uno and Proto the least used color in the decals to bring it out. it is hard to see on the pic but there is a thin blue line running through the grey Bianchi

I'm loving the white Uno as well as your Bianchi... both are very hot!
I just placed my order and my Uno is due to arrive on Thursday, I can't wait! Your pic DID make me second guess my choice of black. My son was pushing me to get white, you and he may be right!

Thank you very much. I am very proud of my Proto. she is almost 20 and still looks great. while I have not been riding alot the last several years I did ride her alot early on. I orginally got the white thinking I would strip the decals off and put some bianchi decals on it but MotoBecane is a fine old name and I will leave like that for now. I need some red bar tape though
