That's a long commute... I am just curious as to why you did not use Rodick Road instead of Warden to head from Woodbine to Highway 7. I find crossing the 407 along Warden a little hairy... Rodick does not have any ramps to or from the 407 which is why I find it safer.

Basically you just go a little further north along Woodbine to 14th, head East along 14th to Rodick Road then go from there to Highway 7... just a suggestion.

+1 for Rodick. I've only actually commuted once to work, but I took that path because it's lower traffic than either Woodbine or Warden. I drive that route daily though -- the only downside is that you can occasionally smell Miller Waste.

thanks for the suggestion.

That's actually why i'm charting out different routes.

i just recently moved to markham, so i'm still figuring out the best route to downtown.

However i don't really have a problem with hwy ramps, i'm used to riding in on busy roads.
The key is to take advantage of the Bus lanes ;) and uses buses as your shield :p

i'm trying to figure out the west way to get into the bike paths along the Don Valley river.

Also alternative road, for winter time, when the MUP is covered in ice.

Using your suggestion, here's another version :)

You're mirroring my route from Hwy7 and Warden to around Don Mills and Steeles.

Routes look good to me...my commute routes are always works in progress, even after a year or two I'll figure out an easier and faster option just a street or two over.

I would suggest that you take the Don Valley trail all the way down to Lake Shore and then take Queen's Quay west before turning north at Spadina. You'll have a continuous bike path with less traffic and fewer lights, likely making for a faster ride despite the slight increase in distance.

yes i was thinking about that too,
else i'll have to get off at calton, and take the bike up the steps :(

I would like to share a route I got from Invita Sport cycling shop in Mississauga. If you're in the west end, you probably already know about newly paved Matheson Blvd and how good it is for riding. This starts in an industrial zoned area and continues west to Terry Fox Way. On weekends this area is practically DESERTED and is fantastic for road biking. The entire route on the link is 90km in total, of which Matheson is but a tiny part, but I hope to do at least once this summer.

It would be a good thing to see some more cyclists out there on weekends ;)
