I just purchased a new bike. I've haven't had a new bike in about five years, and never one with shocks or springs or anything like that. I've ridden it lightly, maybe 15 minutes a day for the last 4 days since I got it, and only today, I noticed a clicking sound when I stand and pedal hard, or when stopped if I just lean hard on the handlebars. I know it's only in the suspension because to investigate, I stopped and pushed down on the handlebars. When it happens, I don't feel any vibration in the bike or notice any change in handling. More than anything, it just annoys me and makes me a little nervous. I was wondering if this is normal, due to just breaking the bike in, or if this is something I should take to a shop and have looked into. I got the bike only four days ago and am otherwise very pleased with my purchase.

I had this problem too. On my bike there was an extra chrome ring that kept the nut from sliding back, loosening the suspension. On my bike the spring was to loose and had been compact from the weight. I took the spring off and took it to a shop and got a new one ( A stronger one ). Now my suspension runs fine.
